What's new in BlitzVolley, month by month
Last updated: 28 September 2026
BlitzVolley is updated continuously: more than 200 versions have shipped since the first prototype. This page sums up, month by month, what changed for players. The current version is always shown in the game, with its detailed release notes.
September 2026: tiered Career and six new opponents
- Career in three difficulties. Easy, normal and expert each have their own line of bots, with every opponent's own look and arena. Bots are ordered from weakest to strongest, based on their measured results against each other.
- A second tier of six bots opens once the expert line is cleared: Grogros, Carabine, Doudou, Chien marron, Catapulte and Miror. Unlike the first six, they learned to play through training, over thousands of matches.
- Every bot has a personality: its own banner, pattern and music. Beating a bot in Career grants its look and unlocks it at that level in free play. Grogros shows his anger with a frown.
- An estimated ELO per bot and difficulty, measured by having the bots play each other, shows on cards and banners. It tells you the level to reach, with no effect on the ranking.
- Netcode. Inputs are sent at a fixed rate, twice, which absorbs packet loss on mobile networks. In private rooms, the opponent's inputs are relayed directly. Wall bounces no longer shift the ball.
- Site. Consent banner for personal data, improved contrast and keyboard navigation.
August 2026: the guide and redesigned bots
- A complete guide, in French and English: rules, shot techniques, bots, ranking, tournaments, progression and FAQ.
- The six original bots rewritten on a common base. Naïf, Mur, Kangou, Pleutre, Fonceur and Filou each have a distinct, measured playing style, and make far fewer blunders (running into the wall, jumping too early).
- Wider arenas: the scenery extends around the court on wide screens.
July 2026: shop, rewards and ranked tiers
- Compotes and the shop: the in-game currency is earned by playing, with the daily gift and recharging chests, and spent on cosmetics.
- Rewarded ads, always optional: double the daily gift or a chest, or skip a chest's wait. They never give any advantage in ranked matches.
- Tiers and divisions derived from ELO, to see your level at a glance.
- Game feel: hits take the player's direction at contact into account, a trail follows the ball and smashes get a light flash.
- Mobile: more discreet touch controls, option to hide the in-match interface.
June 2026: online play
- Online 1v1 matches on an authoritative server: both players see exactly the same ball.
- Free accounts, ELO ranking and a ranked queue; public profiles with stats and match history.
- Live tournaments with eight seats, empty seats filled by bots.
- First version of Career mode, where each bot fights with its own look in its own arena.
- Emotes, room chat, country flag above the player, cosmetic accessories.
- Dual touch joystick on mobile and graphics quality presets for modest devices.
April 2026: the prototype
First playable prototype: two players, a net, a ball, and already the three-touches-per-side rule.
